Background.
The song “Taps†was written by Civil War General Daniel Butterfield
and his bugler Oliver Wilcox Norton. Today this eloquent yet haunting
melody is played at every military funeral and as a call to “lights outâ€
on every military base around the world.
In
this sculpture the artist captures historic symbolism of this song and
uses it to pay tributes to over 100 years of sacrifice by the men and
women of the armed services that have given their lives for our nation. |

Description
This
monument sculpture rests on a triangular base representing the folded
American flag and symbolizing the support of the American people. Three
rifles form a pyramid with the barrels down symbolizing the fallen.
Extending from the right corner of the base is a 1903 Springfield rifle
that was used during WWI. In the left corner is an M-1 Garand rifle
from WWI and in the back corner is an M-16 rifle representing the modern
era. The stocks of the guns come together in the middle forming a
pyramid. Atop the pyramid is a “steel pot†combat helmet that was used
from WWI until the Vietnam War. Under the pyramid is a Civil War era
bugle, which serves to bring the entire composition together.
To cast this sculpture we
used actual military items as models, so the entire sculpture is
life-size. It is so life-like you feel like you could pick it up. It is
cast in high-quality American bronze using the ancient "lost-wax" method
of bronze casting. The patina (coloration) is a traditional chocolate
brown. This is a classic quality statue and built to last for hundreds
of years.
Measurements:
The sculpture measures
44†tall and the base is 32†across the front and 23†on each side.
We
also carry beautiful cast bronze plaques in any size for your monument
or memorial.

Cost
A lot of time and money
goes into the creation of a
bronze sculpture like this.
However, we created this
sculpture because we wanted
to make a contribution to
our fallen soldiers. We want
this piece to be displayed
in every VFW, American
Legion, park and public
square in the country.
Therefore, we are pricing
this very reasonably and
offer discounts for families
of fallen soldiers.
A monument sculpture of this
kind would normally sell for
$10,000 - $15,000.
However, our price for this
sculpture is only $6000.
That includes free shipping
anywhere in the lower 48
United States.
If you want to have a
fundraiser we are happy to
support your effort as much
as we can with ideas and
advice. You might want to
visit our photo gallery for
pictures that you can use
for flyers or mailers.

Installation
There are many options
to display this sculpture. This sculpture is cast from high quality bronze and
with minimal care it is built to last for hundreds of years indoors or out.
Indoors it could be placed
on the floor as it is, or elevated on a table or pedestal. We also offer
bronze plaques. Call or email us for additional
information.
Outdoors it could be
displayed in a number of ways. An inexpensive yet elegant display would be to
build a concrete pedestal slightly larger than the base and about 3 feet tall.
It could then be mounted onto the pedestal using simple lag bolts that attach
under the sculpture and out of view. Again we can make a handsome bronze plaque
with the wording of your choice. It could also be used as a part of a larger
display or as a grave marker. We can provide you with very clear installation
instructions upon purchase or
